About us

Manistee Combat Academy (MCA) is a community-rooted martial arts school focused on personal growth, discipline, and real-world self-defense. Whether you're a seasoned competitor or taking your first steps onto the mats, MCA offers a welcoming, challenging, and family-friendly environment for all skill levels and ages.

Our mission is to empower individuals through the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Boxing—building confidence, strength, and resilience in and out of the gym.

Kids Programs

  • Group of children practicing martial arts in black uniforms with white belts, guided by instructors, in a dojo.

    Kids Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Ages 5-13)

Our kids BJJ program is designed to teach fundamental jiu-jitsu techniques in a safe, structured, and fun environment. Classes focus on developing coordination, confidence, and discipline—while teaching valuable self-defense skills through games, drills, and light sparring. Perfect for kids looking to build fitness and mental toughness in a supportive team atmosphere.

  • Young boy wearing boxing gloves practicing with a punching bag indoors.

    Kids Boxing (Ages 10+)

Our youth boxing classes introduce the core principles of boxing: footwork, balance, coordination, and proper technique. Students build strength, focus, and cardio endurance while learning to respect the art of boxing. No prior experience needed—just a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Adult Programs

  • Group of men in black martial arts uniforms, sitting on a mat, listening to an instructor in a white gi

    Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (Ages 14+)

MCA’s adult BJJ classes offer a deep dive into both gi and no-gi jiu-jitsu, covering fundamental techniques, positional control, submissions, and live rolling. Whether your goals are fitness, competition, or self-defense, our BJJ program helps students progress at their own pace in a structured and supportive setting.

  • Three boxers training in a gym, two men and one woman, wearing red and black boxing gloves.

    Adult Boxing (Ages 18+)

Our boxing program focuses on skill development, conditioning, and ring IQ. Classes include shadowboxing, mitt work, bag drills, defense, and controlled sparring for advanced students. Beginners are welcome, and all drills are scaled based on experience level. It's an intense workout—and an even better stress reliever.
